Cedar Trail Landfill Environmental Monitoring Program

The Cedar Trail Landfill (CTL) at 2500 West S.R. 60 in Bartow, Florida is owned and operated by Republic Waste Services of Florida (Republic). Republic is currently operating a Class III landfill and a RESTRICTED Class I landfill as of mid 2011.

With the use of an Environmental Specialist, the City of Bartow monitors and examines the operations, documents, and permits for the CTL for compliance with federal and state laws governing landfills. In addition, the City has implemented a monitoring plan to ensure the CTL is being operated in accordance with the agreement between the City and Republic, the facility's approved permits including those with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and in a manner that does not adversely impact the citizens of Bartow. 

Through the Settlement Agreement with Republic, the City prohibits certain types of waste and imposes landfill operating restrictions and enhancements to protect the environment while minimizing the financial impact of the landfill on Bartow citizens.
