The Fleet Maintenance department is made up of eight full time employees with six technicians, one supervisor, and a department manager. Fleet is open Mon.-Fri. 6:30am to 3pm with a 24-hour on-call technician 365 days a year.

Fleet is responsible for overseeing and maintaining all of the city’s light, medium and heavy duty construction and industrial equipment, as well as utility and solid waste vehicles and equipment including a small engines and a tire shop. Every vehicle, including equipment, is on a three-month service rotation which includes a 15 point safety inspection and a 28 point operating inspection. There are 212 vehicles and more than 300 pieces of equipment in the City of Bartow’s fleet. Fleet Maintenance also provides extensive fabrication and welding services for most of the city departments. During emergency operations, Fleet Management performs emergency fueling, off-site maintenance, and generator support to sustain critical city functions.

Fleet Maintenance furnishes technical information and prepares specifications for the purchase of new vehicles and equipment for the city. Fleet is also responsible for new vehicle installations as well as fleet disposal.
