Captain Luke Hauser began his career with the Bartow Police Department in 2013. Captain Houser attended the Basic Law Enforcement Academy at Polk State College. He was initially assigned to the Patrol Section as a Field Training Officer and Traffic Homicide Investigator. In 2016, Captain Hauser was reassigned to the Investigations Section investigating felony cases. In 2018 he was promoted to Sergeant and assumed the supervisory responsibilities of a patrol squad. He was later assigned to the Community Services Team where he currently serves today. Captain Hauser is an active member of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Testing and Advisory Board. |

WHAT DOES THE COMMUNITY SERVICE TEAM DO? The Bartow Police Department is committed to establishing and maintaining meaningful and productive partnerships with all groups within the community. This partnership ultimately enhances the safety and quality of life for the citizens of our community. The CST Section includes 1 Sergeant, 3 officers and 1 Crime Prevention Practitioner. The Community Services Team is a valuable component of this partnership. The CST members participate in many events throughout the year, and communicate with residents and business owners to solve "quality of life" issues. Crime Prevention
The Bartow Police Department would much rather prevent crimes from occurring than react to them after the fact. A primary vehicle for accomplishing this goal is the Department’s comprehensive Community Services Team (CST) and Crime Prevention Unit.
Crime Prevention Programs are based upon the dual concepts of eliminating or minimizing criminal opportunities whenever possible, and encouraging and training citizens to be responsible for their own security and the security of their friends and neighbors.
Part of the responsibilities of a Crime Prevention Practitioner is to offer and present various topics to educate the public on the latest crime trends and most current crime preventative methods. The Community Services Team is available to speak to your group or organization at a time and location of your choosing. Topics that may be presented include, but are not limited to:
• Alcohol and Drug Awareness
• Cyber Crime Awareness
• Theft prevention
• Personal safety, and Dating/Domestic violence
• Sexual Assault Awareness
• Active Shooter
• Workplace Violence

In addition to speaking engagements, the Community Services Team will attend public safety events such as health fairs, bike rodeos, grand openings etc. C.S.T. members will set up a table and tent and offer appropriate promotional and crime prevention materials, free to attendees.
Neighborhood Watch is one of the most effective and least costly ways to prevent crime and reduce fear. Neighborhood Watch also helps build pride and serves as a springboard for efforts that address other community concerns such as recreation for youth, child care, and affordable housing.

Tours of the Police Department
The Bartow Police Department invites groups from the community the opportunity to tour the Bartow Police Department facilities. Each year hundreds of citizens and children take a tour of the department.

The Bartow Police Department K-9 Unit enjoys a partnership with the community and receive numerous requests every year for K-9 demonstrations. Few events promote the Bartow Police Department’s K-9 Unit better than public demonstrations. Citizens from civic and private organizations, as well as school and children’s groups enjoy watching the dog and his handler do their job.
Because much of their police work is done without fanfare and headlines, a well-prepared and performed demonstration provides the officers and their K-9 partners the ability to showcase the K-9 Unit. A presentation to one person or thousands will influence the success of the program.
C.A.T. Combat Auto Theft Program
CAT (Combat Auto Theft) is a voluntary program whereby the motor vehicle owner agrees to allow law enforcement to stop and/or detain their vehicle and occupants during the hours of 1:00 AM and 5:00 AM . The purpose of the CAT Program is to deter vehicle thefts and determine whether or not the vehicle is stolen.
The program also provides security for our aging population who may be suffering from Dementia or Alzheimer’s. Many times they become confused during the early morning hours and begin to travel in their vehicle.
