Library cards are free for Polk County residents!

PCLC library card

A library card is the most valuable card you can own, and it's free! With your library card you can:

  • Borrow books, movies, music, magazines, and more from any public library in Polk County
  • Download ebooks, movies and more (for more information visit our eResources page)
  • Use a public computer
  • Access the Florida Electronic Library and other research databases

How To Apply

Simply bring in a photo ID and proof of a current Polk County address.

If your driver's license has a current address on it, that's all you need!

If the address listed is not current, bring a photo ID and an official document with your address written on it (such as a utility bill, voter's registration card, or rental agreement).

You can also start the process at home by registering for a temporary library card online.

Fill out your information in our online pre-registration form and you will be given a temporary card number that you can use to place items on hold. Then bring your photo ID and proof of address to the library to receive a physical card.
